More about Angela:
I am a passionate advocate for evidence-based recovery solutions and education, focusing on trauma-informed care, Co-Occurring circumstances, crisis intervention, and relapse prevention practices.
I promote unique heeding and motivational techniques that prioritize effective treatment for clientele. These techniques are evidence-based and effective for the long-term goal of behavioral health and wellness.
My own personal experience with family addiction has resulted in a deep understanding and empathy for recovery. I value 12-step programs like AA and Al-Anon but also the integration of meditation and holistic healing.
A few things that bring me joy outside of work include my five grandchildren, vampire movies, photography, day trips, and absolutely anything chocolate. When I’m not reading up on SUD news or working, you can find me beachside with an audible book and more crochet stuff than anyone should have.

It is my belief that human beings are both wonderfully unique and mercifully similar to one another. We are connected to each other in our individuality through the common strands of what it means to be a person trying to live our best lives in a world full of uncertainty, pain, beauty, and love. My approach to counseling reflects the uniqueness of each person’s individual life story, sociocultural context, trauma, and inner resources, while also tapping into the wisdom of our shared human condition and the immense power of relationships and community. I strive to strike a balance between the uniqueness of self and the commonality of humankind through an organic, authentic approach that draws on evidence-based practices and tools while bearing in mind that any tool or idea only really works if it works for you.
A core foundation of my approach is the belief that you are the expert on yourself. I will approach you with compassion, curiosity, and some expertise of my own, but healing and growth will ultimately come from within you and the relationships in your life. Counseling in my view is about coming to understand ourselves more wholly and with less judgment in order to live our lives with greater authenticity and love. I believe that every challenge is made more manageable when faced alongside someone else. It would be my honor to stand with you as you transform whatever is weighing you down into the steps leading to a better life.
I operate from a perspective that is underpinned by the existential-humanistic approach; emphasizing authenticity, freedom, and your individual power. I pull techniques and ideas from attachment theory and the related practice of Emotionally-Focused Therapy, as well as from Contextual Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Solution-Focused Therapy. All techniques are employed collaboratively and with respect for your social location and personal history.

I believe that artmaking provides us with an extraordinary avenue to express the profound impact of life’s experiences. It allows us to convey the intricate tapestry of emotions that dwell within us, even when words elude us. Art Therapy offers an escape from the weight of constant verbalization during therapy, providing a sanctuary where thoughts and feelings find a voice through creative exploration. One of the most beautiful aspects of art therapy is its inclusivity. It welcomes everyone regardless of their artistic background or age. From children to adults, students to parents, art therapy knows no boundaries. It adds a dynamic dimension to the therapeutic process, creating a triangular relationship between the therapist, the client, and the art. This sacred connection allows art to unveil unconscious truths, facilitating healing and self-discovery.
Drawing from person-centered, solution-focused, and existential-humanistic approaches, I hold a space infused with unconditional empathy and compassion, free from judgment. Through the lens of Art Therapy, I illuminate the visual and symbolic aspects of healing, using the art process as a conduit. Art Therapy transcends the intimidating barriers that can surround art. It celebrates the notion that anything can be art and that the process of creation is far more valuable than the result. In my practice, the focus is on the journey, not the destination. This approach places joy and curiosity at the center, offering a space for reflection and self-acceptance.
I aspire to cultivate a sanctuary of courage and support, where clients can authentically explore their journeys. Rooted in empathy, I strive to create an environment that nurtures self-discovery and empowers the pursuit of meaningful lives. Let us embark on a collaborative voyage of self-exploration, using art as a compass to navigate the complexities of existence and find solace in creativity.
My areas of expertise are: Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Relational Conflict, Life Transitions, Lack of Fulfillment, Grief, Personal Growth, Boundary Setting, Identity Formation
